JD RICH QUARTET
Jared Earl Richardson (also known by the stage name JD Rich) is a composer/songwriter, producer, and keyboardist from Victoria BC, currently based in Vancouver. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music (2016). Jared writes original music and arrangements that combine influences of modern dance music, 70s/80s funk, jazz fusion, and the melodic sensibilities of movie & video game themes.
In addition to performing his own music, Jared has been involved in jazz and classical ensembles as a pianist, including: the Jaelem Bhate Jazz Orchestra, West Coast Big Band, Symphony 21, Meridiem Wind Orchestra, Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra, and University of Victoria Jazz Orchestra. In Vancouver, he has performed at Guilt & Company, Tyrant Studios, Frankie’s Jazz Club, 2nd Floor Gastown, St. Andrews-Wesley United Church, and The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. In Victoria, he has performed at Hermann’s Jazz Club, Alix Goolden Performance Hall, and Farquhar Auditorium.
Jared also composes music for orchestra, big band, and film scores. His works have been performed and recorded by the Victoria Symphony, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the Hollywood Studio Symphony.
The JD Rich Quartet presents a supercharged performance of primarily original funk and jazz fusion compositions, as well as creative arrangements of popular songs, and memorable themes from movies & video games. For upcoming performances on Victoria/Vancouver Island, Jared is pleased to feature a strong lineup of local musicians:
